Snow Monkey

The so called snow monkeys, actually Japanese Macaque, is the northernmost primate (apart from humans) and this particular troop has learnt how to use the hot springs to keep warm in the very cold winter in the Japan Alps. It's become a major tourist attraction - when I first started going there many years ago, I often had the place almost to myself but those days are gone. Oh well, even still I love watching these amazing animals. Each indiviual has a distinctive face and expression - just like humans.
